Amer fort
Located in Jaipur, the Amer fort is one of the principal tourist attractions of Amer. It gives you an an incredible journey through the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan. It attracts major tourists because of its beauty and its old yet sturdy architecture. Built using marble and red sandstone coupled with intricate, artful designs, this fort stands regal and magnificent, a testimony to the history of Rajputs. Moreover, It was titled as a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the group 'Hill Forts of Rajasthan' in the year 2013.
One of the most admired section of the Amer Fort is Sheesh Mahal (The Mirror Palace). It is the most famous and beautiful part of Amer Fort. Surely, You remember the famous Bollywood retro classic “Jab pyaar kia toh darna kya” from the movie “Mughal-E-Azam”, Yes this song was shot in Sheesh Mahal.
Another famous section is Diwan-e-Aam or the “Hall of Public Audience” . It is a magnificent hall where the king of Amer used to listen to the needs and the complaints of his people and also attend ministers, friends and special guests from the other states.
One more to add to the list, Sukh Niwas, another beautiful section of this magnificent fort where king used to spend time with their queens and at times with their mistresses. That why it is known as the residence of pleasure(Sukh Niwas).
Moving on to the religious side, Shila Devi temple (Goddess Durga Temple) is established here. There is a story behind the establishment of the temple. During the kingdom of Pratapaditya, Maharaja Man Singh after getting defeated at the hands of king Kedar was humiliated and depressed. To change his defeat into victory, he worshipped Goddess Kali to please her and receive her blessings. Kali appeared his dreams and blessed him but asked for a promise in return to establish her shrine in his capital. So the idol was brought by Maharaja Man Singh from Jessore (presently in Bangladesh) in the year 1604.
In winter, on the sixth day of Navratris, special prayers are offered to this goddess. Hundreds of thousands of devotees from Jaipur and surrounding areas gather to pay offerings to Shila Devi.

Jaipur Local Sightseeing
Cost: free INR
Distance: 160 Km
Jaipur Local Sight Seeing
Jaipur, also famously known as the Pink City, is one of the most beautiful and oldest cities of the country. There are some very beautiful places one can visit in the Pink City. We’ll tell you about the most famous places to go, and you have to really to go there if you want to explore Jaipur.
First one on my list is, Hawa Mahal – The “Palace of winds” or “Palace of the Breeze”. The name says it all about it. It was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh using red and pink sandstone. It was designed by Lal Chand Ustad in the form of the crown of Hindu God Krishna. It was actually a high screen wall built so the Royal Household women could watch the street festivals in the city remaining unseen from the outside.
Second place on list had to be the City Palace Complex. The city palace is the seat of the Maharaja of Jaipur, the head of the Kachawas Rajput clan. City Palace complex consists of Chandra Mahal(presently used as a Muesum), Mubarak Mahal, Jantar Mantar and other buildings. This complex resides in the northeast of the center of the Pink City. It has one of the most spectacular courtyard, garden and buildings.
Pink city is filled with magnificent Palaces, but the first sight of Jal Mahal might leave you staring at it all day. Jal Mahal ,literally meaning “Water Palace”, is situated in the middle of Man Sagar Lake and is such that it gives a soothing and amazing feeling and is a feast for the eyes. This palace is the eye candy of Pink City.
Head to the famous Shri Govind Dev Ji Temple, a Hindu Shrine, to see the devotion of the people for towards Lord Krishna. The Idol of Lord Krishna was brought from Vrindavan, by Raja Sawai Jai Singh II, to be assembled in the pink city, Jaipur.
On Fourth comes “Chandpole”, where one can witness the hustle bustle of the main bazaar of the pink city. You can do some work here. How about shopping some cultural clothes or things to take back with you in the name of Pink City.
If you are a foodie, this place is definitely for you. “Lassiwala” on MI road near Rajmandir Cinemas, is the most famed lassi (buttermilk) shop in Rajasthan. A shop famed in the whole state is more than enough to say about it.
If you want to have some entertainment, and care to watch a movie, then the “Great Raj Mandir theatre” is right next to the Lassiwala.
