Scrolling through your Facebook feed can be toxic sometimes. When you see all your friends posting and checking in from the best of the places, all you can do is admire the place and get a little envious of the people for being out there. Something similar happened to me when I saw my friend’s pictures from Rishikesh. She thoroughly seemed to enjoy the camping, the rafting, the cliff jumping and what not. Then and there I decided to have an adventure of my own and I decided to go to Rishikesh. Rishikesh is emerging to be a hub of adventure sports and I was excited to try some of them. Being the in-depth analyst that I am, while planning my trip I did a lot of research, checking out all my options. But my search zeroed down to Shoes On Loose that offered off-beat experiences rather than mere tourist places that too at nominal pricing. That's how I began my journey to Rishikesh- the hub for water sports.

I am a student and travelling on a shoestring budget is almost sacred! Bookings made; reservations confirmed; I was all set to commence my journey.

Traveling Solo

Although I was travelling alone and had the initial apprehensions, it all went out of the window when I met everyone. What started out as a group of strangers going to a place with similar interests, turned out to be a horde of friends that created some of the best memories of their life together. As soon as we reached Rishikesh, we went out to explore the places to visit in Rishikesh. With multiple ashrams around every corner, conducting all kinds of yoga and meditation classes. We went on to see the famous Lakshman Jhula and Triveni Sangam for aarti. Rishikesh comes across as a spiritually rich city, with a vibe so pure, that it is impossible to be touched by it.

All set for adventure

Raft your way to Glory With Shoes On Loose-3 Rafting is emerging as a popular activity in Rishikesh. As the morning came, were all brimming with excitement to face the rapids. After a small briefing session, we were all set to take up the Shivpuri to Rishikesh journey. We put on your life jackets helmets and experience the ultimate challenge as the raft get tossed get hit by the waves covering a distance of 16 km from Shivpuri to Rishikesh. Sitting in our raft, holding the paddle, we were terrified of the roaring waters ahead of us. There were mixed feelings of fear and thrill that I had never experienced before. Saying our prayers we took on the rigorous water. The first fall into the first rapid is an exhilarating moment. When the water washed through the raft we were left blubbering, gasping for breath, thinking that any second our raft would turn and we would be thrown into the water. And then, as suddenly as it began, it was over. We passed the rapid. As we took on the splashes, the weight of thrill & excitement overtook the fear, and we started enjoying the rapids shouting, cursing and screaming.

I always knew white water rafting was a cool thing, but experiencing it; having your run from nervousness – excitement – fear – panic – respite to finally a feeling of solace was something I knew, only by being there. Shoes On Loose gave me this very special memory of my life that I shall always cherish and recite with the same excitement each time as if it were my first.
