Day 2: Indus Valley Tour - Visit Shey Palace - Thikse - Hemis Gompa

Wake up lazy morning. We begin the day by visiting Hemis Monastery, Thiksey Monastery and then to Shey Palace.

Shey monastery and palace is located 15 km from Leh town on the Leh - Manali road. The monastery enshrines the Du-Khang with an almost 10 meter high copper statue of Lord Buddha. The Shey Palace was the abode of the royal family till 1834 AD when they moved to the Stok palace.

Continue your drive on a well mettled broad road traveling upstream along the Indus River to Hemis Gompa, crossing over the Indus at the village of Karu. Hemis is well known for its festival or Hemis Tsechu commemorating the birthday of Guru Padmasambhava. In evening, return to Leh for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Leh - Kargil via Alchi and Uleytokpo (6-7 hrs. Journey)

After a sumptuous breakfast we head towards Leh-Srinagar highway and first visit Spituk Monastery, located 2-3 km away from Leh town. Enroute visit Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, magical Magnetic Hill, the Sangam (confluence) of Zanskar and Indus river. Now continue towards Alchi, a small village situated on low land, all green with apricot trees on both side of road.  Alchi monastery is a Buddhist worshipping place and study center and is managed by the monks of Likir. In Alchi, one can visit the Sumtsek Temple, Vairocana Temple, Lo Tsawa Temple, Manjushree Temple, Kangyur Temple with Stupas, Monk Cells etc.
Now drive towards Kargil passing by Lamayuru - The Moonland Escape. Reach Kargil in the evening. Check-in at the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Visit Hunderman village and back to Leh via Lamayuru (6-7 hrs. Journey)

Post breakfast and some leisure, we'll head towards Hunderman village - around 7-8 KM from the hotel where we'll witness the surreal Apricot Blossom across the village. Hunderman is also the last village of India. It came under the territory of India after 1971 Indo-Pak war. One could see Pakistani post and village across the Line of Control.

Now we'll retrace outr steps back to Leh. Enroute visit the Lamayuru village to experience the Moonland like landscape followed by Lamayuru Monastery. Reach Leh in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at Leh.

Day 5: Leh – Enroute Khardungla – Nubra Valley (5-6 hrs. Journey)

In the morning after breakfast, brace yourself for the splendid drive over the mighty Khardung La – one of the highest motorable Pass in the world at the height of 5602 M / 18,380 ft. Over the route, the road dramatically plunges, and Shyok and Nubra Rivers unfold magically. You move on via Diskit to reach the white sands of Hunder. Spend some time on the white sand dunes here; do a ride on the Double Humped Bactrian Camels if you want to (on your own). Visit the Diskit monastery, which is believed to be the largest and oldest monastery in Nubra valley, and enjoy the sunset. Return to camps in the evening where bonfire and tea-snacks would be arranged for. Dinner and overnight stay in Nubra.

Day 6: Nubra to Pangong Tso via Shyok / Warila (5-6 hrs. Journey)

Post breakfast, we’ll continue our journey towards Pangong Tso via Warila / Shyok village. Enroute explore the mound of earthen monastic dwellings, crowned by the Gompa. The valley is blessed with a beautiful stream flowing through it, originating from the lake, giving a greenish tincture to the otherwise dry landscape around. Apart from flora this area is rich in fauna too. You can see a lot of Himalayan Marmots around the area. However, the main attraction of this circuit is the grand Pangong Tso, which you would reach by early evening. The mesmerizing beauty and the fantastic view of Tso places it a league above anything you have seen so far. Dinner and overnight stay near Pangong.

Day 7: Pangong Tso to Leh - Visit Stok Village (6-7 hrs. Journey)

After breakfast and some leisure, drive your way back to Leh via Changla pass. Enroute head towards Stok village where we’ll visit the well maintained Stok Heritage Museum (almost 200 years old) run by the royal family itself. The Stok Palace was opened to the public in 1980 with blessings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. This place holds great architectural significance and if you’re the kind of person who is interested in culture, history and heritage, this place would be heaven for you. You can sit and relax at the cafe right at the entrance with a panoramic view of the village and the valley of Singey Sangpo which is popularly known as the Indus River. Return to Leh in the evening where you can stroll around Leh market - collect some souvenirs of you want to. Dinner and overnight stay in Leh.

Day 8: Bid the Fairyland Good Bye

After a scrumptious breakfast, complete all the signing out formalities and cab will drop you at Leh airport. Board the flight back to home. End of trip.
