Besides tea, the estate also produces spices, cinnamon, and natural rubber from the surrounding farms. Afterwards, stop in the gift shop to purchase boxes of tea and souvenirs. Then you can enjoy a swim at Jungle Beach, a secluded stretch of sand with gentle, calm waters. To access the beach, you need to drive or hike up to the Peace Pagoda, then climb down the steps through the jungle vegetation, meaning the beach remains less crowded than its nearby counterparts. Pick a sunbed near the beach bar, sunbathe, and have a refreshing drink, or drift further away to a quieter, more deserted part of the beach for some rest and relaxation. Nestled in a secluded cove and protected by a coral reef, Unawatuna Beach resembles a huge saltwater wave pool. The combination of golden sand and laid back atmosphere appeals to visitors from distant corners of the world, who come here to rent a beach shack, grab a cocktail, and watch the waves roll by--and swim and snorkel, of course. Visitors can also rent kayaks and jet skies, or go on a guided fishing trip. Amenities include a number of bars, restaurants, and shops.
