A seasonal attraction, Global Village is a major shopping and entertainment attraction in Dubai. Opening on the 30th of October, 2018 and closing on the 6th of April in 2019, Global village is a very diverse and unique destination for shopping and trade. Global village has designated areas for more than 90 countries around the world with atypical stalls that promote tourism, leisure, shopping and entertainment. For instance, Global Village has pavilions for all the major Indian cities. At these pavilions you can find all the best souvenirs, local trade items, traditional cuisines and stunning art styles. What was described was for one of the pavilions, there are 90 countries who participate in this massive trade fair of sorts which has shopping experiences, cuisines and entertainment from all over the world. Apart from this, there are major concerts and carnivals that happen at the Global Village. Earlier in December Shah Rukh Khan highlighted one of the events, and if you are in Dubai on the 11th of January, you can catch Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan in action live at the Global Village.
Dubai has not emerged as a centre for trade in the recent years, given the technological advancements. It has been a part of the trade route from the ancient times where Dubai used to be known for its spices and pearling business. In the ancient times, markets in Dubai were called Souks and to this day there are a variety of souks or local markets in Dubai. Situated next to the Gold Souk, Spice souk is a narrow lane of shops selling varieties of spices that you can probably not even imagine. If there were to be a spice in the world, it will be found in the spice souk. You can walk along the street taking in the over whelming fragrances of the spices at display. You can find everything from the famous frankincense and saffron to dried chilies. You can also find a number of shops selling the famous Dubai Sheesha tobacco. This is not a premium shopping destination, rather it is recommended because it is one of the few remaining places where you can experience a more traditional side of Dubai.
