Known as the ‘Paragliding capital of India’, the towns of Bir and Billing in Kangra district are extremely popular places for adventure sports. Bir is situated 35 km from Palampur while Billing is situated 14 km from Bir. Bir is known as the take-off site while Billing is known as the landing spot.
Surrounded by tea gardens and an amphitheater of low hills, Bir is an ideal landing ground for paragliders. Bir has a number of Buddhist monasteries that are worth visiting and fine Tibetan handicrafts can be seen produced here. Billing, up in the hills is one of the best aero sports sites in the country.
