7 Bollywood Movies that can spark the wanderlust in you.

Could anything spark wanderlust in a person more than movies? Those amazing locations, breathtaking sunrises and sunsets or the dreamy beaches or the serene mountains or even the wonderful streets of cities can inspire you to travel. I personally have a huge travel bucketlist derived from the movies I have watched and the list keeps getting longer. I mean when you watch Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara on a rerun don’t you already feel that you are in Spain? So, here’s a list of some locations abroad where Bollywood has filmed its movies to give you all some major vacation goals.

1. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

7 Bollywood Movies that can spark the wanderlust in you.-1 This movie probably tops the list for any wanderlust struck Indian soul. I mean who doesn’t want to go to Spain and have a gala time with his/her buddies? From Barcelona to Valencia to Seville this movie has filmed some very picturesque parts of Spain. The roadside scene where Hrithik is completing his video call with his client was filmed in the backdrop of the Montserrat Mountains. The beaches of Costa Brava in the movie are beyond words and don’t forget the place where Salman Habib or Farhan’s biological father in the movie lived, it’s the white village of Ronda in Andalusia. Someone take me to Spain, pretty please''!

2. Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaenge, Switzerland and London

7 Bollywood Movies that can spark the wanderlust in you.-2 It was Yash Johar who brought the world to Indian televisions and cinema halls when he started his era of love stories either based in foreign countries or by beautifully teleporting the protagonists to some exotic location abroad in dreamy song sequences. Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaenga was like a portrait painted in the surreal moors of Switzerland and enchanting streets of London. Can we ever forget the scene where Amrish Puri feeds pigeons at the Trafalgar Square or the beautiful roads Shahrukh and Kajol are driving through? No.

3.Chalte Chalte, Greece

7 Bollywood Movies that can spark the wanderlust in you.-3 'Tauba tumhare yeh ishare' had us all drooling at the sight of the immaculate windmills or the beautiful Church of Panagia Paraportiani in the Mykonos Island. The song Suno Na Suno Na also showed us some breathtaking locations such as the Athens Academy and the Vouliagmeni Lake in Athens. Greece truly exudes a utopian charm and allures us to its breathtaking locations. Let’s pack our bags to Greece right away. Who’s with me?

4.Rockstar, Czech Republic

7 Bollywood Movies that can spark the wanderlust in you.-4 For Indians this was a whole new location shown in the movies. I mean yes, we were bored with only Switzerland or New York or London in the movies so Imtiaz Ali gives us a visual treat of the Czech Republic. The stunning locales of Prague and its blending in the fun song sequence of Hawa Hawa did make us drool. Guess that’s what an Imtiaz Ali’s movie does to u, first make you a hopeless romantic and then spark an unsettling wanderlust in your hearts?

5. Tamasha, Corsica

7 Bollywood Movies that can spark the wanderlust in you.-5 I bet many of us didn’t even know where Corsica is until Tamasha happened to us. Yet again, Imtiaz Ali gives us a reason to be awestruck with captivating locales of this little island in the Mediterranean Sea. From stunning peaks to beautiful coastlines Corsica is magical and the movie successfully depicts its beauty blended with romance, heartbreak and a great storyline to make a magical concoction called Tamasha.

6.Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani.

7 Bollywood Movies that can spark the wanderlust in you.-6 Well, we all wish we had lives like Bunny, the protagonist in the movie but even if we may not be able to live such a flamboyant life, we can always watch this movie and keep our dreams of seeing the world alive within us, can’t we? Apart from its stunning locales in India, few of the scenes were shot in some captivating spots of the City of Love, Paris like Rue Mouffetard, Pantheon and the River Seine. Paris anyone?

7. Queen

7 Bollywood Movies that can spark the wanderlust in you.-7 Queen shall forever be etched in our hearts for everything so beautiful. This time Paris and Amsterdam gave us major backpacking goals instead of honeymoon goals. The naive Rani making it on her own in the streets of Paris to running from the haunting Eiffel Tower, to finding friends in Amsterdam to choosing a rock concert instead of her stupid fiancé made us all go awwww in adoration. Queen made us realise how travel can be one of the most liberating and empowering experiences of life. Did Rani bring out the solo traveller in you too?

Now that we have revisited such iconic movies that have inspired us to travel what are you waiting for? Go get yourself a ticket and fly away to any of these wonderful destinations and make memories or at least take a weekend trip to your long awaited destination of choice and start ticking off the bucketlist. I am going back to watching Tamasha for now and probably travelling later this month. Until then keep watching movies and keep travelling.
