Moreover, It was titled as a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the group 'Hill Forts of Rajasthan' in the year 2013.
One of the most admired section of the Amer Fort is Sheesh Mahal (The Mirror Palace). It is the most famous and beautiful part of Amer Fort. Surely, You remember the famous Bollywood retro classic “Jab pyaar kia toh darna kya” from the movie “Mughal-E-Azam”, Yes this song was shot in Sheesh Mahal.
Another famous section is Diwan-e-Aam or the “Hall of Public Audience” . It is a magnificent hall where the king of Amer used to listen to the needs and the complaints of his people and also attend ministers, friends and special guests from the other states.
One more to add to the list, Sukh Niwas, another beautiful section of this magnificent fort where king used to spend time with their queens and at times with their mistresses. That why it is known as the residence of pleasure(Sukh Niwas).
Moving on to the religious side, Shila Devi temple (Goddess Durga Temple) is established here. There is a story behind the establishment of the temple. During the kingdom of Pratapaditya, Maharaja Man Singh after getting defeated at the hands of king Kedar was humiliated and depressed. To change his defeat into victory, he worshipped Goddess Kali to please her and receive her blessings. Kali appeared his dreams and blessed him but asked for a promise in return to establish her shrine in his capital. So the idol was brought by Maharaja Man Singh from Jessore (presently in Bangladesh) in the year 1604.
In winter, on the sixth day of Navratris, special prayers are offered to this goddess. Hundreds of thousands of devotees from Jaipur and surrounding areas gather to pay offerings to Shila Devi.
